Congratulations Scholarship Winners!

We gave a total of $53,000 in 2025 scholarships to dream children and siblings, like Silas.

Silas Turner (18) is looking forward to attending Florida A&M University and plans to study nursing. Him and his family will travel to New York in June 2025 for his dream trip. They will see Hamilton on Broadway, visit the MET and MoMA and explore all New York City has to offer on a double-decker tour bus. Silas’ dream is being sponsored by the Community Nutcracker, a long-standing partner of Dreams Come True.

Silas was referred to Dreams Come True after suffering a arteriovenous malformation (AVM) rupture in March 2024, which resulted in two aneurysms and a hemorrhagic stroke. Silas was actually born with AVM but it was undiagnosed until his rupture. He spent more than 30 days in the pediatric intensive care unit at Wolfson Children’s Hospital. During that time, he was in a medically induced coma for 10 days. Silas went through therapy to relearn how to walk, talk and even eat. Even through a very traumatic experience, Silas continued to show his resilience and focused on his education.

Established in 2020, the Dreams Come True Moore Scholarship was created through a generous 2019 estate gift from the Honorable John H. Moore, II and the Joan Kraft Moore Living Trust. Since its inception, the program has awarded a total of 107 scholarships—72 to dream children (Dreamers) and 35 to their siblings—helping ease the financial burden of higher education for families navigating serious illness.

Our 2026 scholarship application will be available starting September 1, 2025.

Applications will be judged by the Dreams Come True Scholarship Board, which consists of selected members from the Dreams Come True Board of Directors and Dreams Come True volunteers. At least one educator (retired or active) will sit on the committee.
